Cricketer Haider Ali’s bail prolonged in rape investigation

LONDON: Pakistan batter Haider Ali has been given a two-week bail extension by the Larger Manchester Police after a British-Pakistani girl reported him for the alleged rape at an area resort.

Haider Ali was set to look earlier than the police on August 20, 2025 however the police informed him to look after two weeks. In the meantime, the investigation will proceed into the allegations.

The police mentioned: “It’s alleged that the incident occurred on Wednesday, 23 July, 2025, at a premises in Manchester. The man has since been bailed pending further enquiries. The victim is being supported by officers.”

In his police interview, Ali had denied the rape allegation.

He was arrested on the Spitfire County Cricket Floor, Kent, from the Gamers’ Canteen Workplace. He was taken to the Canterbury Police Station by the Kent Law enforcement officials.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) mentioned Ali has been provisionally suspended at some stage in the legal investigation.

“The PCB fully respects the legal procedures and processes of the United Kingdom and acknowledges the importance of allowing the investigation to run its due course,” the PCB had mentioned in a press release.

“Accordingly, the PCB has decided to place Haider Ali under provisional suspension, effective immediately, pending the outcome of the ongoing investigation.

“As soon as the authorized proceedings are concluded and all information have been duly established, the PCB reserves the fitting to take applicable motion underneath its Code of Conduct, if obligatory.”

Ali has represented Pakistan in 35 twenty20 internationals since making his debut in 2020, in addition to two one-day internationals.
