KARACHI: The Baseball Federation of Pakistan (BFP) has appointed nationwide workforce participant Alex Khan as head coach of the Pakistan U-18 baseball workforce, officers confirmed on Tuesday.
BFP President Fakhar Shah mentioned Khan, a US-born Pakistani, was chosen because of his intensive expertise in junior baseball. Khan, who performs as an infielder and pitcher for Pakistan’s senior workforce, represented the nation on the 2022 World Baseball Traditional and also will compete on this yr’s Asian Championship.
“We’re excited to announce that Alex Khan has been appointed as the head coach of the Pakistan U-18 team for the upcoming U-18 World Cup qualifiers!” the BFP mentioned in an announcement. “Khan brings a wealth of coaching experience from youth baseball to summer collegiate, and we’re ready to make our mark on the global stage!”
Shah mentioned Khan will practice Pakistani gamers for subsequent yr’s World Cup qualifiers. The federation can be planning to carry a coaching camp for the junior workforce within the US because of an absence of sufficient infrastructure in Pakistan.
Fifteen gamers shall be chosen for the U-18 workforce’s camp forward of the qualifiers for the 2026 event.
