Noor Zaman secures spot in British Open Squash Championship predominant draw

KARACHI: Pakistan’s Noor Zaman has certified for the primary draw of the British Open Squash Championship after defeating Egypt’s Kareem El Torkey within the qualifying remaining.

The reigning World Beneath-23 Squash champion continued his spectacular run on the skilled circuit, securing his place in the primary spherical of the celebrated event in England. 

Within the decisive qualifying match, the Tenth-seeded Zaman overcame third-seeded El Torkey 11-5, 11-8, 3-11, 11-7 in 46 minutes.

Earlier within the qualifying rounds, Zaman defeated England’s Will Salter 3-1 (10-12, 11-2, 11-5, 11-3) in 42 minutes and Adrian Waller 3-1 (11th of September, 11-6, 11-7, 14-12) in a 59-minute thriller.

Zaman, the primary Pakistani participant to succeed in the British Open predominant spherical since 2022, will face England’s Curtis Malik within the first spherical on Sunday. 

In 2022, Tayyab Aslam was the final Pakistani to compete within the event’s predominant draw.

The rising star’s constant performances spotlight his rising stature in worldwide squash.

Pakistan holds a file of 30 British Open titles — essentially the most by any nation, with 10 of those titles received by Janagir Khan.
